Green card

An official, legally binding U.S. credential evaluation is never free because independent private agencies charge for formal verification. However, you can use free online tools to see your U.S. Ph.D. equivalent instantly, or apply for specific humanitarian grants that cover the entire cost for you. [1]

Option 1: Free Online Equivalency Tools (Unofficial)

If you just want to check what your Doctorado from the Universidad Bolivariana de Venezuela (UBV) is worth for your CV or job applications, you can use official simulators for free:
  • WES Degree Equivalency Tool: World Education Services provides a free tool on their site. You input "Venezuela", "Universidad Bolivariana de Venezuela", and your degree to immediately see its U.S. conceptual equivalent. [2, 3]
  • WES iGPA Calculator: A free tool where you manually type in your UBV grades and credit hours. It converts your Venezuelan grades into a standard U.S. 4.0 Grade Point Average (GPA). [4]
Note: These tools give you instant digital results, but they do not provide a downloadable certified PDF report for immigration or university admissions. [3, 5]

Option 2: Apply for Free Evaluation Grants (Official)

If you are currently living in the United States and meet certain economic or legal criteria, you can get an official, certified evaluation completely free through charitable initiatives:
  • ECE® Aid: Run by Educational Credential Evaluators (a top NACES member). This charity provides 100% free official evaluation reports to displaced persons, refugees, asylees, and vulnerable immigrants. You must apply through an approved community partner organization in the U.S.. [6]
  • Upwardly Global: A U.S. non-profit organization that helps immigrant professionals rebuild their careers. If you qualify for their program, they often fully fund your professional WES or ECE credential evaluations, resume writing, and job placement.
  • Welcome.US: This organization offers financial aid, vouchers, and fee waivers for essential immigration steps, including academic revalidations for eligible newcomers.

Option 3: Let an Employer Pay For It

Many corporate companies, government contractors, and U.S. universities will pay the $150–$300 evaluation fee for you. If a U.S. organization wants to hire you based on your expertise in Strategic Development, you can ask them during the hiring process if their HR department handles or covers the cost of foreign transcript evaluations. [1]

To find out if you qualify for a free official report, could you tell me:
  • Are you currently residing inside the United States or outside the U.S.?
  • What is your current immigration status (e.g., U.S. citizen, resident, parolee, asylum seeker, or living abroad)?
